The Moose Lake Public Library has been a community leader for providing
access to computers and the internet to the citizens of Moose Lake and
the surrounding communities. There are currently a total of nine public
computers in the library and we have recently upgraded to a T1 line for
internet access. Our computers include flat screen monitors, Windows XP,
and Pentium IV CPUs. Two of our computers are new Gateway brand PCs purchased
with money provided by a grant from the Gates Foundation. One of the new
Gateways was placed in our "children's corner", for use by children and
pre-teens only. The second new Gateway was placed with our other computers
for a total of three computers for public internet access. The Gates Foundation
grant also provided a new network switch, to provide faster network connections,
and a great new HP laser printer. We also have two computers for our electronic
card catalog. The library also offers access to several older computers
for word processing.
*Important* Because of the high demand for access to our Internet computers we have a policy that limits access to these computers from 10:00 AM-3:30 PM to one hour per day per family. After 3:30 PM the access increments are limited to one-half hour per family. Anyone wanting to use the library's computers also must signup for a time slot at the library's main desk. We hope that all will understand the need for this policy and be courteous when our staff enforces this policy. The Moose Lake Library also offers access to our HP laser printer at a cost of 20 cents per page.
